"Scrumptious! DeStefano combines one part memoir with one part cookbook to create a deliciously different kind of read-one you'll find hard to put down. He has a gift not just for explaining his culinary destinations but also for transporting you there. I swear-the more I read, the more I could see the landscapes, hear the conversations, and taste his delectable creations. Treat yourself!" -Raymond Coutu, editor in chief, Scholastic

"The hybrid of memoir and recipe book is an appealing twist on both genres. DeStefano's storytelling style is exuberant and candid . . . The joy of bringing people together through food is infectious in this enthusiastic memoir." -Kirkus Reviews

"A wonderful book written by a hard driven man who is not afraid to step outside the confines of normal quests. Mr DeStefano spins a delightful yarn when describing his childhood, his family and chosen craft. Christopher has an uplifting persona and is an inspiration to me. I will certainly do my best with his recipes.
I thank you Christopher." -Denis Hanley

Fun to read

"Foodies love reading about chefs who have made it, and also cooking from their books. Misfit Chef: Stories & Recipes from Memory is one such book that is fun and interesting to read. Most importantly, it is fun to cook from. Christopher J. DeStefano’s stories bring out his fun personality, and is a great read – well-written with plenty of stories and vignettes to keep foodies reading. He also includes mouthwatering recipes that will definitely appeal to everyone. They are written in the traditional manner with the ingredients listed first, followed by step-by-step instructions, so everyone can follow them easily, even beginning cooks. Each recipe also has comments on the top of each recipe. Many of the recipes are unique and innovative, and, rather than being organized in traditional chapters (breads, meats etc.), are presented as they relate to the stories in the author’s life. Each recipe is accompanied by a beautiful, professional photograph of the finished dish, which makes the recipes even more appealing. All told, this is a great cookbook for foodies. It’s one foodies will want to curl up in a corner, read, and then create the delicious recipes. This one is really fun." -K Hancock

 Entertaining and Inspiring

"I just received my copy, and couldn’t put it down! Everyone will find something in the book to which they can relate. In one chapter, Chef DeStefano will have you laughing; in the next, you will shed a few tears. This book is so heartfelt and sincere, you can’t help but be inspired. I also can’t wait to try some of the recipes. As someone who also loves potato chips, I don’t know whether I’ll try the Caramelized Onion Dip or Christopher’s Marinated Steak Tips first!?! You will love this book!" -Vicki Karns
